Coxsackieviruses
Enterovirus that can be a cause of aseptic meningitis. Coxsackie A is known
to cause hand, foot and mouth disease. Coxsackie B causes pleurodynia, myocarditis
and pericarditis. Diagnosis of these viruses is made by serology or isolation
of the virus. Treatment is mostly supportive, but a patient can be given
anti-inflammatory agents. No vaccines or anti-virals are used to treat the
coxsackieviruses.
